Sara was one of a small group of trafficked women who took part in our pilot project back in 2018. We were running skincare workshops with women who had experienced various forms of exploitation. Sara was being supported by a local
anti-trafficking charity, and her participation provided her with reassurance and something to occupy her mind while she endured the complexities of applying for asylum.
She spent 3 months building her skills in the production methods for each product, and designing, labelling and packaging them. She played a role in marketing and driving awareness via social media, and became involved in the trading side by
accompanying the team to Christmas gift fairs and helping with order fulfilment in the production office.

Here she shares her thoughts:
‘It gives me more hope and I feel like I can do anything. I feel strong, and I’m better than I thought I was. The candles come from honest people with a clean heart, and nobody forces anybody to do anything. When you come to make
the candle, you do it because you want to do it, so that’s already a big thing - to do something with love, and enjoy yourself all day long.'
"It feels so good. I feel good, I feel important, I feel normal, and I feel proud of myself. Seeing people come and buy something you made, you know, it feels good, it feels really good. Especially when people say, ‘You made this?’ and I’m like
‘Yeah!’"
Sara has chosen to stay with LoveWell as is a huge part of our women only team, as our head of production!

Further to this we are delighted to say that she has received refugee status in the UK. Sara feels fully settled here now, and last Christmas got her first home. A home she feels calm and safe in. We love you Sara!
