Recruiting a new Chair to join the Board of Directors

LoveWell UK C.I.C.
Pioneering Business Growth & Women's empowerment -
Voluntary Chair of the Board Role

About LoveWell UK

LoveWell UK is not just an organisation; it's a force for positive change, dedicated to providing employment opportunities for marginalised women who have experienced trauma through trafficking and exploitation. We manufacture luxurious well-being products, and production roles are recruited from women who have attended our employability programme run by our charitable arm Lovewell Foundation. We want to grow our reach by growing our income and profitability through sales of our products.  As a C.I.C., our mission extends beyond philanthropy; we're committed to driving sustainable business growth while creating employment opportunities for more women.

As the Chair and a Director of LoveWell UK C.I.C., you will be working with a team of skilled, supportive and dedicated women and with them, you will lead on setting the strategic direction of the organisation, ensuring financial sustainability and maximizing the impact of our work with women.

EDI

We are an inclusive organisation and welcome applications from those who can help us to achieve these aims. Prospective candidates will preferably have some experience of attending board/trustee meetings, governance, briefings and strategy meetings. We can offer one-to-one mentoring for up to a year to support the new chair to develop their understanding of the organisation.

This is a pivotal role in helping to shape the future of our organization, with a focus on business growth as a means of supporting women into employment.

We are looking for someone who can:

  • Lead the Board and provide strong governance, good risk management and financial oversight. With strong support from the Board’s finance director, you will review management accounts and approve the annual statutory accounts and budgets.
  • Support the CEO to deliver the strategic goals and objectives set by the Board.
  • Chair Board meetings that occur 6 times annually and encourage a collaborative environment, supporting and empowering active participation from all Board members.
  • Be the figurehead for the company promoting our work and ambitions to all stakeholders.

Time commitment

In addition to the above you will need to set time aside to speak with the CEO regularly, read Board papers and financial reports. Attendance at two strategy meetings a year is also expected.
