The month where nature slows its blooming and simply exists after months of growth. We certainly hope you have a chance to do the same this month. Whether you are taking time out or you’re working through the summer, it’s important to enjoy August in all its glory – sun (we hope at least!), light evenings and time to reflect.
August can sometimes feel a bit like New Year's Eve in a month. Perhaps it's the academic structure still engrained in us, when time slows down and the days of freedom feel like they will never end. Or perhaps it’s the knowledge that autumn is warming up to meet us. Either way, it's a great time of year to stop, reflect and plan.
What does LoveWell mean to you?
As we quieten down over the summer, we’ve been thinking about what LoveWell is. This year we went through significant changes, closing down our C.I.C. arm and continuing with the charity. But with these changes, going back to who we are was really important. What do we mean to our trainees and supporters? What do we mean to the wider community? What are our intentions? To do this piece of work, we wanted to hear from the people who know us best of all: our wonderful trainees and dedicated volunteers and trustees.
Over the course of an evening, we brainstormed and reflected on LoveWell - just like August intends. Words like community, pride, safety and hope were repeated several times and it’s safe to say that’s exactly what LoveWell is and aspires to be. Of course, we are more than those few words. We are an opportunity to grab with both hands, a safe place to land when you need it most and a hub of nurturing relationships to support and stay with you as the tides ebb and flow.
After a reflective, productive and slightly emotional discussion, we feel confident in redefining our aims after lots of change over the last year.
LoveWell is a community. Not just in the activities it carries out but at its beating heart. Keep an eye out for our new values coming soon. We are still the LoveWell you know, and now it’s time for everyone else to know too. We can't wait to share these things with you.
